It’s Pomp and Colour as Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Sports and The Arts Ababu Namwamba Presides over Isambo Cultural festival and Beauty Pageantry in Budalangi
Namwamba, presided over a three day cultural festivals and Beauty Pageantry at the shores of Lake Victoria in Budalangi, Busia County.
The annual festivities are meant to foster peaceful co-existence between the communities along the Lake Region, while also acting as a talent spotting and nurturing platform in a bottom-up model approach.
The festivals dubbed the Isambo Cultural Festivals and Beach Carnival attracted over 1000 participants, who took part in various sporting activities including boat riding, Beach volleyball, football matches and to crown it all was the Miss Isambo Beauty Pageantry competition.
CS Ababu Namwamba has developed a grand plan to identify and nurture raw talents in the country, as he seeks to build from the grassroots.
This is in line with President William Ruto’s commitment to support grassroot talent spotting and nurturing through the Talanta Hela Project as announced in his Jamhuru Day Speech where the President reiterated the government’s support in talent development from grassroot level.
During the festivities, CS Namwamba took the opportunity to plant trees as part of the presidential environmental sustainability program that seeks to plant 15 billion trees by 2032. The CS also gave back to the community through a food distribution exercise that saw over 500 women receive food donations for the festive season.
