The residents of Withare, Githira, Kahuruko, Kijabi and Corner Bahati in Laikipia East constituency who said they barely have a meal a day and have been impoverished by the slum life could not hide their joy saying the food donation offered much reprieve to them.
Peter Kamau, one of the beneficiaries said the good gesture by Tatua3 Foundation gave them hope to be positive despite the seemingly hopeless slum life.
“In the slums, we hardly have two meals a day. It’s a struggle each day. Even clothing is a problem. This good gesture has restored some hope to and we hope more well-wishers would chip in and extend their support to slum children,” said Kamau.
In an event held in Withare, with the Tatua3 Foundation Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Joan Mwaura and area Member of Parliament Mwangi Kiunjuri spearheading the distribution of the food donations the foundation’s management said putting smiles on vulnerable people in the society and having the passion to help the needy makes them attached to the community.
