Tergat, Mwendwa Console Sports CS Amina Mohammed over Husband’s Death

The National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOCK) and Football Kenya Federation (FKF) have condoled Sports and Heritage Cabinet Secretary (CS) Dr. Amina Mohammed following the death of her husband on Thursday, July 29th, 2021.

NOCK president Dr. Paul Tergat and FKF chief Nick Mwendwa sent their respective bodies a message of condolences.

NOC-K President, Paul Tergat has sent a message of condolences to Sports, Culture, and Heritage Cabinet Secretary, Amb. (Dr.) Amina Mohammed, EGH following the death of her husband this morning.

Noting that the loss was such a huge blow to the super hardworking CS and her family, Dr. Tergat and Mwendwa condoled with her, saying that he was lost for words to learn of the passing on of her husband.

They said the news filtering in from Nairobi concerning her bereavement was such a sad development, which left him and the Team Kenya contingent in Tokyo devastated. He expressed solidarity with the family from himself, Team Kenya, the Olympic Family, and the entire sporting fraternity in the country.

Tergat and Mwendwa wished the Cabinet Secretary and her family the strength and fortitude to bear with the tragic loss, which came just a day after her return to Kenya from Tokyo for the Opening Ceremony of the postponed Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Khalid was set to be buried later Thursday afternoon in line with the Muslim traditions.

President Uhuru Kenyatta mourned him as a gentleman, strong family pillar, and an astute businessman.
