There Will Be No Fair Nominations In UDA,’ Wangui Ngirici Says As She Ditches The Party

Kirinyaga Woman Representative Purity Wangui Ngirici has castigated Deputy President William Ruto’s UDA party officials for telling her to drop her Kirinyaga Gubernatorial seat ambitions in favor of Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru and instead vie for Mwea parliamentary seat on the party’s ticket.

Angry Ngirichi disclosed this while touring Mwea and Gichugu constituencies in Kirinyaga County where she donated foodstuff to needy families.

Wangui stated that she already ditched United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party and would be contesting for the Kirinyaga Governor seat as an independent candidate.

The lawmaker disputed DP Ruto’s remarks of free and fair elections saying that UDA would not see fair nominations.

“If they are telling you to vie for Mwea seat, do you think there will be fair nominations?” Wangui posed to the residents of Kangai in Mwea.

“They received over Ksh 200 million from local politicians to buy nomination tickets, do you think there will be fair nomination?” She added.

Ngirichi explained that during the 2017 elections, she had spent over Ksh 40 million to clinch the Woman Rep seat thus she could not afford Ksh 200 million to buy a UDA nomination ticket.

“I better give you the money instead of buying a UDA ticket,” Ngirichi said.

At the same time, the legislator urged the residents to choose wisely their preferred presidential candidate ahead of 2022.

“You can choose either William Ruto, Raila Odinga, or Musalia Mudavadi as your presidential candidate,” Wangui said.

Ngirichi had been a close ally of William Ruto until 26th November 2020 when her political rival and Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru decamped to UDA.
