Uhuru Joins Azimio Leaders in Mourning Protest Victims

Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday drove himself to join other leaders attending the interdenominational prayer service by Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition.

The retired President arrived at the Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka (SKM) centre which is the venue of the prayers on Friday, July 28th, 2023 a few minutes before 11 am.

The prayer service by the opposition doubles up as a mass to mourn supporters who lost their lives in the anti-government protests.

This is the first time he is publicly attending a function led by the Azimio team.

The last time he attended a public function was during the Jubilee National Delegates Convention (NDC) at the Ngong Racecourse.

Other Azimio leaders present at the prayer meeting which is being held at the SKM Command centre in Karen include; Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Martha Karua among others. “Today we gather as a nation to pray for the souls of the victims of police brutality to Rest in Peace. To the injured, admitted in various hospitals across the country, we wish you a Quick Recovery,” ODM said in a statement.

Other leaders from Azimio affiliate parties are also present at the meeting.
