The hunt for the Sakaja Super Cup quarter finals spots intensifies as the group stages matches come to a close with fifth round midweek fixtures taking place on Wednesday and Thursday, November 8th-9th, 2023.
It will be a day of reckoning for former Kenya’s national football team Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama’s Country Bus FC whose hopes hang on a shoe string as the fate lies in the hands of Ngara in a final deciding fixture of Starehe Sub County’s pool B at Landi Mawe grounds.
Country Bus and Ngara are both tied on nine points and where a win for either side will join Kawasaki who have amassed 12 points and a qualification slot.
In Embakasi Central, the 2015 Super 8 Premier League champions Kayole Asubuhi coached by Kenya’s record national 20 times winners Gor Mahia and Sony Sugar player Isaiah “Song” Omondi known for his defensive skills are at risk of being eliminated.
Kayole Asubuhi battle bottom placed and winless Matopeni United FC in a group A fixture on Wednesday, November 8th, 2023 at Calvary grounds.
Kayole Asubuhi are placed third tied on six points with the second placed Kayole All Stars and have to go for nothing short of a win to qualify. Kayole All Stars take on Kapolo FC in their last match on the same day.
“We are in good shape physically and mentally so there are no major concerns. The players have been training hard and we are looking forward to making it to the next round,” said Omondi.
In Kasarani, Reliable Base stand in the way of the Nairobi Champions League champions Terror Squad aka Kasarani Red Eagles Academy in their final group A match to be played at Njiru grounds on Wednesday, 8th, 2023 for the last qualification slot to join the already qualified Kamulu United FC.
Terror Squad are placed in second place with six points same with third placed Reliable Base but with a superior goal difference after trouncing Ammosanders FC 10-0 last Sunday.
The other fixture between Ammosanders and Maili Saba United at Ruai’s Muhuri Muchiri grounds on the same day will be of no consequence as they have both been eliminated.
