‘You Have No Right to Command Us!’ DP Gachagua Charges Uhuru With Interfering With Government

The Deputy President spoke on Friday February 3, 2023 when he flagged off thousands of bags of cheap fertilizer in Mombasa.

Gachagua claims that the former president squandered his two mandates by engaging in unscrupulous politicking and ruining the farmers’ fertilizer subsidy program.

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has been charged with interfering with the Kenya Kwanza administration, according to Vice President Rigathi Gachagua.

“People who have mistreated farmers and jeopardized food security in the name of local politics have no business directing our efforts. And if they’re curious about how things are progressing at work, they should come by and see for themselves,” he said.

People here are trying to introduce politics of telling people how they should work while they are working day and night to make interventions to lower food prices. They had their own chance to work and dragged this nation to its knees economically; give us some time and let’s see how we can rebuild this economy by realistic initiatives like raising agricultural production.

Gachagua claimed that in order for farmers to have access to the affordable agriculture inputs in time for the planting season, which is expected to begin next month, the government had accelerated their distribution.

He said they expected most of the farmers in the 12 pilot counties to get the fertilizers by mid next month.

From the first batch,  17,840 bags were set for Nakuru County, while another 17,840 bags are headed to Webuye in Bungoma. The government aims at delivering fertilizers to the 12 pilot counties by mid March.
